Life is hard.  It can feel like every day just brings a new or different challenge, and it is common to find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, stressed, and alone.  We feel like we are working so hard just to "keep it together."  Finding a space for yourself - a space where you feel heard, understood, and validated - is so important.  I am passionate about my work, and I genuinely care about and am invested in the well-being of my clients.  I want to help you in whatever it is that you are facing.  If you are thinking about taking this first step to getting the support and help you deserve, please take some time to check out my website, contact me, or click below to learn more about my approach to this work.

MY MISSION

At Healing Journeys, I am dedicated to providing this community with quality mental health services promoting hope, healing, and growth.  I use an integrative, collaborative, client-centered approach, tailored to the unique needs of each individual. I believe that at the root of positive change is the empathic relationship between client and therapist, and I pride myself in my ability to provide a safe, supportive space, where clients feel comfortable to open up in a genuine way.  Using evidence-based interventions and an approach built upon compassion and warmth, I hope to help my clients be more present in their day-to-day experiences, allowing them to live more authentically, in-line with their own values and beliefs.  I support my clients in developing a strong sense of self-compassion and willingness to accept their humanness - strengths and imperfections alike! I believe in the therapeutic process and its way of fostering growth and healing - helping clients live whole-hearted, fulfilling, and meaningful lives.

grief & loss

my philosophy

"Some things cannot be fixed; they can only be carried."

All of us will experience loss at some point in our lives.

Whether it is a death that we know is coming - like that of a loved one who is ill - or one that is tragic and unexpected, loss can be life-altering.  In addition to the pain we are experiencing because of the loss itself,  we sadly live in a culture that is missing the mark in supporting the bereaved.

I am here to tell you that YOU ARE NOT THE PROBLEM.

The problem is that we live in a world that just does not get it!   Grief is complicated and messy.  It is helpless and powerless and painful.  Grief is NOT a disorder to treat, an illness to cure, or an ailment to fix.  It is a natural human response to losing something or someone in your life.

Whatever you are feeling is okay.  It is okay to struggle.  It is okay to fall apart.

I specialize in working with people whose lives have been shaken by loss.  We will learn how to carry the weight of your loss together.  You're not alone.

Health Psychology:

A Holistic Approach to Wellness

Whether it be through our own experience or that of a friend or loved one, it seems today that all of us have been impacted by a medical issue, illness, and/or diagnosis.   Outside of trying to manage the physical aspects of such issues, coping with all the mental, emotional, and social aspects of these concerns can leave us feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and completely exhausted.   As one who specializes in clinical health psychology, I am here to help support you in facing ALL aspects of your struggle - not just the physical aspects.  Whether you are coping with a terminal or chronic illness, stepping into the role of a caregiver to a friend or loved one, or you are trying to integrate health and wellness into your life in a real way, I am here to help!  Please contact me if you are interested in getting the support you need.

Individual Therapy

I believe that we could all use a little extra support. Life becomes a little lighter when we can share the weight of our struggles with someone else - when we feel supported, cared for, and understood - when we know that we are not alone. I offer individual therapy for a broad range of concerns and issues.

I want to be there for you.

I can help you.

Grief & Loss

Debriefing, Training, or Consultation

I offer grief and loss debriefing, trainings, and/or consultation. There is a lot of misinformation in our culture around these topics, which can make coping that much more difficult. Are you interested in learning more about coping with loss?  Has there been a recent death or traumatic event at your workplace or at your child's school? Perhaps it would be helpful to bring in an expert to help address these concerns with those affected.

"Have patience with all things, but first with yourself.

Never confuse your mistakes with your value as a human being.  You're a perfectly valuable, creative, worthwhile person simply because you exist.  And no amount of triumphs or tribulations can ever change that.  Unconditional self-acceptance is the core of a peaceful mind."
